What we offer
| Counselling FAQs |
"Is the counselling service private?"We operate a strict confidentiality policy, which safeguards the young people's rights. All the counsellors are bound by the British Association for Counselling's Code of Ethics which means that they will not tell other people what has been discussed in counselling - unless the young person is in danger. The counsellors do talk about their work with their supervisor, but will not talk about the young person who they are seeing with anyone outside of Faces in Focus. More information about this can be provided upon request. "What can I talk about?"All the counselling at Faces in Focus is Intergrative, which means that the young person is free to explore any issues they choose, whenever they feel ready to do so. Our counsellors are trained in dealing with a wide range of issues, such as sexuality, anxiety, loneliness, abuse, depression, phobias, problems with family, relationships, school, college, work, etc. but they will not tell the young person what to talk about. "How often can I come?"Sessions are usually arranged at the same time each week, with each session lasting for 50 minutes. There is no fixed maximum or minimum number of sessions offered - this would be agreed individually. "Is there a waiting list?"Even though there are several counsellors, there is sometimes a delay of couple of weeks for on-going sessions. "How can I get an appointment?"You, or someone else, can make an appointment for an initial session, which will give you a chance to say why you want counselling and if you have any preferences about your Counsellor i.e. gender, race, etc. This also enables us to refer you to an appropriate counsellor at Faces In Focus. You can call the centre during Faces In Focus' opening times to arrange counselling appointments. |
