Job description for the management committee as a body corporate

Responsible to:

  • The funders and supporters of the organisation
  • The law, Charity Commissioners, Companies House, etc

Responsible for:

  • The budget - approving and monitoring
  • Understanding accounts and approving them
  • Financial management - looking at the overall picture for the current year and longer term
  • Funding strategy - planning where to get support, setting up contingency plans
  • Constitution - maintenance, amendments
  • Work programme agreement, monitoring and amendment
  • Management Committee Co-optees
  • Equal Opportunity Policy - implementation, monitoring, assessment
  • Appointment of representatives to external bodies
  • Operational planning and policy - how things are recorded, what is recorded, how the organisation deals with the work
  • Key PR/Image decisions - corporate design, presentation of views on issues of concern
  • External policies - how the organisation relates to other voluntary statutory organisations
  • Premises - maintenance, management, location
  • Health and Safety - policy, implementation, record keeping
  • Establishment/dis-establishment of paid posts

  • Involvement in staff discipline grievance process
